Values

We are constantly measuring ourselves against the very thing which gives our work its meaning.

Values come about through work; they grow out of what we do on a day-to-day basis. Simply setting our own values was not enough to satisfy us. Values must be lived. For iSi, they represent both the foundations and the objective of our daily business. Only those who are aware of this, and who sincerely face up to the challenges that result can fulfill their mission, and make their vision a reality.

Vision

The vision describes how we see ourselves, our basic values. It forms the basis of all our actions and is the guideline we use to assess our decisions. It allows us to continue viewing ourselves with a critical eye, so that we never avoid the question as to whether the path we are on is the right one.

Independence.

In thought, in work, in action. For us, this is the driving force behind entrepreneurship. Having the power to make decisions. And, knowing that this independence must be dealt with responsibly, so that it pays dividends for us, our customers and our employees.

Sustainability.

Maintaining what is worth holding on to; and thinking about what has become outdated. This is sustainability. It always has been, even if others might call it conservation. This way of thinking has given us the opportunity to develop our company in a targeted manner, thus guaranteeing long-term success.

Integrity.

Having values and observing them. This isn’t self-explanatory: For us, integrity means living our values and allowing them to comprehensively feed into our decisions. It also means owning up to mistakes, correcting them, and communicating openly. That’s when it really counts.

Mission

This self-conception gives rise to goals, to ideas as to how we should move forward. Today becomes the question of tomorrow. That is the mission. An explanation, a definition of our strategy, and of the values we want to shape the future with.

Innovate.

Innovations cannot be controlled, they must be able to develop by themselves. They cannot be made to appear at the press of a button. However, they can be given space, and the environment for stimulating innovation can be created. Innovation can be found and encouraged. And that is exactly what we do.

Specialize.

Knowing in what areas you are good, or excellent, and concentrating on them. Finding niches, occupying them, and doing everything to stay in them. Staying ahead, yet without losing sight of the Other, the Unusual. This is how we have managed to hold our ground so far, and we want it to stay that way.

Internationalize.

From strong roots grow branches to the rest of the world. Anyone exporting ninety percent of their output to ninety different countries can certainly call themselves international. Allowing this fact to feed into your own thoughts, however, is more difficult. Nonetheless, in our experience, it’s worth it.

Decision

Decision and leadership mean never losing sight of these goals. Motivating and inspiring employees to greatness and keeping their enthusiasm going are the keys to success. Responsible leaders who lead others, show them the right path.

Inspiring.

With a big goal in mind, walking unknown paths and revealing new possibilities. Moving, inspiring, and encouraging great things in others. Wanting to set an example with our professional competence, moral integrity, and human empathy.

Supporting.

Being an anchor, giving a sense of security. Really listening and understanding means being aware of others and giving them your honest attention. Promoting and challenging our employees according to their abilities. And thus pushing and encouraging independence and creativity.

Integrating.

Creating a sense of togetherness. Nurturing the team spirit and sharing successes resulting from working together. Keeping the lines of communication open. Letting other opinions, ideas, and points of view be heard. Open ears. Open eyes. Open doors.

Our history

The traditional Austrian brand iSi is now represented in more than 90 countries worldwide.

The original iSi company was Karl Fischer-Pochtler GmbH. As Carl Pochtler AG, it produced the first soda machines in the early 19th century. The core products of the culinary business segment today are still the CO2 capsules for soda water production and N2O capsules for production of cream, soups, sauces and foams.
The company's management is traditional: Mag. Christian C. Pochtler is a direct descendant of the Fischer-Pochtler founding family. With his innovative business policy, he has successfully led the company into the 21st century.

1867 – 1881

Born in 1840, Carl Pochtler is officially listed as a turner and manufacturer of surgical syringes and mechanical instruments. The production of siphons begins around this time.

The "Carl Pochtler Surgical Syringe Soda Water Apparatus and Siphon Factory" has a wide range. The company receives numerous awards at trade and world exhibitions.
In 1878, Carl Pochtler registers his first patent, the Pfropfenhahn ('stopper tap').
In 1881, the company sets up shop at Kaiserstraße 87, in the 7th district of Vienna. This location close to the centre remains the company headquarters until 1975.

1887 - 1922

The first phase of big changes

After the death of Carl Pochtler in 1887, his daughter Rosa Fischer-Pochtler is registered as the company owner.
In 1906, Rosa Fischer-Pochtler's husband Carl Fischer takes over the management.
In 1916, Carl Fischer-Pochtler's son Alfred becomes managing director. The company now employs more than 80 people.

1922

Change of legal form to a public limited company named "Sodawassermaschinen-, Siphons- & Metallwarenfabrik Carl Pochtler A.G.".

1923 – 1930

Founding of various subsidiaries in Czechoslovakia, Romania and former Yugoslavia.

1940 – 1954

War turmoil and post-war phase

After the war-related deregistration of the public limited company in 1940, in 1951 the production of home siphons and CO2 capsules resumes. After the death of Alfred Fischer-Pochtler in 1954, his daughter Marietta Fischer-Pochtler takes over shares and management with her husband Hannes.

In 1959, the "Heimsyphon Karl Hinz und Co. Ges.m.b.H." is founded.

1964

Laying of the foundation stone of today's iSi Group

In 1964, the "Karl Fischer-Pochtler Ges.m.b.H" acquires all shares of the company "Heimsyphon Karl Hinz und Co. Ges.m.b.H" and renames it "iSi Metallwarenfabrik Ges.m.b.H". The name iSi Metallwarenfabrik GesmbH is entered into the commercial register on 14 May 1964. In doing so, it lays the foundation for the brand name and logo of today's iSi Group.

1966

The first disposable capsules produced by iSi for preparation of soda and whipped cream came onto the Austrian market in 1966, followed by the beginning of worldwide exports.

In 1975, production and administration are relocated to the newly established factory in Kürschnergasse, in the 21st district of Vienna. This location is gradually expanded over the next few decades and is still the headquarters for the entire iSi Group.

In 1978, Christian C. Pochtler (5th generation after Carl Pochtler) founds the iSi Siphon of America Inc. (now iSi North America Inc.).

In 1984 he takes over 100% of the shares of the company and management, and founds the "Fischer-Pochtler Holding Ges.m.b.H." (today the Pochtler Industrieholding GmbH). He also takes over 100% of iSi GmbH.

1990

In 1990, the company Heimsyphon (formerly Heimsyphon Karl Hinz, subsidiary of BOC) is bought. The iSi industrial cylinder components division is expanded to become the company's second mainstay.

1994: commissioning of the world's largest high-tech filling centre for capsules for iSi Culinary and installation of a cylinder factory for the components division at the Kürschnergasse location.

1995

In 1995, iSi Airbag GmbH is founded, the cornerstone of the third iSi automotive division.

In 2000, iSi Airbag GmbH moves to the new location in Vienna Scheydgasse (also in the 21st district of Vienna), today's headquarters of iSi Automotive Austria GmbH and iSi Automotive Holding GmbH.

2009 - 2015

Entry into the automotive airbag module business (Tier 1)

During the automotive crisis, iSi Automotive takes over Delphi's European airbag business. iSi Automotive Berlin GmbH becomes the automotive group's design and development centre.

Foundation of iSi Automotive subsidiaries in Thailand, Mexico, China and Hungary.

iSi Automotive Hungary Kft. is expanded for textile and subsequently module finalisation. iSi Automotive (Thailand) Ltd. starts the bag production operation.
