It uses high-pressure stored noble gas, which is released in the event of a function. This means that no heat is generated, which offers particularly advantageous options for gas routing and fabric design. The Cool Hybrid Inflator complements the product portfolio, especially for side airbag applications. The combination of low propellant amounts with cold gas technology enables excellent reproducibility with higher performance in the smallest possible space.
Cold Gas Technology
Gas storage is an essential component of cold gas generators and crucial for their flawless and reliable function. iSi Automotive's gas storage features a highly efficient design that requires a minimum number of welding seams. The filling with up to 800 bar of noble gas and the tight welding are carried out in one step.
Long-term tightness and functional reliability are ensured by a pressure test under temperature influence and a helium leakage test in high vacuum on each individual gas storage.
All process and test data are individually documented with serial number & barcode, ensuring exact traceability.
The Cool Inflator® cold gas generator developed by iSi Automotive is equipped with the required gas storage, which is continuously scalable with respect to the required gas quantity, according to customer requirements.
